തീവ്ര ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റായ ഐഡ അമേരിക്കയിലെ ന്യൂ ഓർലിയൻസിൽ ആ‍ഞ്ഞുവീശുന്നു. ലൂസിയാന പ്രവിശ്യയിൽ വൻ നാശനഷ്ടമാണ് ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റ് വീശിയ ആദ്യ മണിക്കൂറുകളിൽ തന്നെ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രദേശത്ത് നിന്ന് ആയിരങ്ങളെ മാറ്റിപ്പാർപ്പിച്ചു. (ida hurricane strikes)

200 കിലോമീറ്ററിലധികം വേഗത്തിലാണ് കാറ്റ് വീശുന്നത്. പ്രദേശത്തെ വൈദ്യുതി ബന്ധം നിലച്ചു. ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്ഡ ഷെൽ ബീച്ചിൽ 7അടി വെള്ളം ഉയർന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. മിസിസിപ്പിയിലെ വേവ് ലാൻഡിൽ ആറ് അടിയും വെള്ളം ഉയർന്നു.
