നാസയുടെ ചൊവ്വാദൗത്യ പേടകം പെഴ്‌സിവീയറന്‍സ് റോവര്‍ ചൊവ്വയുടെ ഉപരിതലത്തില്‍ ഇറങ്ങി. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സമയം, ഇന്ന് പുലര്‍ച്ചെ 2.28നാണ് റോവര്‍ ചൊവ്വയിലെ വടക്കന്‍ മേഖലയായ ജെസീറോ ക്രേറ്ററില്‍ ഇറങ്ങിയത്. ചൊവ്വയിലിറങ്ങുന്ന അഞ്ചാമത്തെ റോവറായി പെഴ്‌സിവീയറന്‍സ്. ചൊവ്വയില്‍ ജീവന്റെ തെളിവുകള്‍ അന്വേഷിക്കുകയാണ് ദൗത്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന ലക്ഷ്യം.

ചൊവ്വയുടെ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തില്‍ 19,500 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ വേഗതയില്‍ സഞ്ചരിച്ച റോവറിനെ ഒരു പാരച്യൂട്ട് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് വേഗത മന്ദഗതിയിലാക്കി ചൊവ്വാ ഉപരിതലത്തിലിറക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഇന്‍ജെന്യൂയിറ്റി എന്ന ചെറു ഹെലികോപ്റ്ററിനെയും റോവര്‍ വഹിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അനുയോജ്യമായ സമയത്ത് ഇത് പറത്തും. 2020 ജൂലൈ 30ന് വിക്ഷേപിച്ച ദൗത്യം ഏഴ് മാസത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ 48 കോടി കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ സഞ്ചരിച്ചാണ് ചൊവ്വയിലെത്തിയത്. 270 കോടി യുഎസ് ഡോളറാണ് ദൗത്യത്തിന്റെ ചെലവ്.
